Weekly Warrior Queen Links #13

Hmm, for some reason this week is heavy on the motherhood posts .I'm okay with that, and I hope that you guys are, too. For me, as a warrior queen, the way we raise our daughters and sons are very important to me. I also believe the way we interact with children that are not our own is important. I've been noticing it a lot lately. I try my hardest to tell girls and boys to break gender stereotypes, yet when I explain the wiki sticks we have for our kid menus, I almost always tell the little girls they can make a butterfly or bracelet, rather than saying something more gender neutral.

Do you catch yourself doing things like that?

Also, many people have been sporting the WQ wristbands recently. I'm going to start sharing them on @beawarriorqueen on Instagram. Are you following? AND DO YOU WANT A WRISTBAND?

Dale Partridge is so inspiring. This article about things mothers should never say to their daughters is something I must always remember!

It's not uncommon to be unhappy with our bodies - these reasons on why to ditch the scale are so important to acknowledge.

I've shared the What's Underneath project by Style Like U before, but this video is too powerful to not share.

Nina reminds us the best (simple) ways to be happier.

I love what Samantha at Moving Peaces is doing with the month of October! She's doing 31 Days of Finding Self.

Yvonne tackled a tough topic on her blog that might slip your mind when you find out you're pregnant - telling your friends and family who are unable to have kids.

I love these lessons that Alissa has learned in her 22 years. p.s. Happy Birthday, Alissa!

This satirical video called Rape: It's Your Fault in this Miss Information article is awesome.

Raising kind daughters starts at home.

Huffington Post was on it this week, and published this open letter to Target that all moms have been thinking about.

Who did you get dressed for this morning? I'm willing to bet it most likely wasn't to turn on the people around you.

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #12

It felt weird letting an almost full Sunday pass without sharing these! Next week, we're at 3 months of awesome links! Not only am I having a blast sharing links with you, but these links help me get re-inspired in the women's movement. I hope they inspire you!

Tiffany shares one of her female game changers, and asks us - who has changed your life?

Have you ever been slut-shamed? This social experiment was the best read all week.

Body shaming goes across genders - as women who claim our bodies are beautiful curvy...why don't we embrace fuller boys?

I love that this book Jesus Feminist, exists. My Feminist Methods teacher was a Catholic theologian, feminist lesbian and through her, was able to understand the complexities of Feminism, sexual orientation and religion. I think it is important for spiritual and religious women to know that  being a feminist does not take away from your spiritual support.

Emma Watson's speech is going viral (thankfully) and I love this post on The Accidental Mama on #WhyImAFeminist

Jemma (who is still waiting for her precious baby to get here!) shared her tips to achieving self-love and you all know that I'm a sucker for that!

Speaking of self-love, it doesn't always have to be rainbows and sequins.

I'm always looking for more tips on dealing with anxiety

It may seem glamorous to be a lady, but we should never tell our daughters to be ladylike.

Does anyone else agree that we should stop telling these lies about sex to girls?

Have you ever truly thought of the difference in hormones makes on the body? This video of a gender transformation - and how its bettered his life, is inspiring.

Alyssa's campus does awesome things. Recently, they did an event on banned books, but this movement on sexual assault awareness, takes the cake.

I can't wait to hear what you think of these! .

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #11

This week has been a doozy. We've been up, down and all around but I've been enjoying it mostly - as a recluse.

Also, we are totally about to become "those people" with Bella, who came home late friday night by the way. I mean, she already has her own Instagram, since she will clearly be a complete football dog. I mean, during the fall we're either watching football or watching a recorded show. Except when the Angels are in the playoffs...or the Ducks start hockey on time.

Anyway, this week has been so inspiring with the posts I've found...I hope you like them!

This week's news focus has been the NFL and the abuse accusations. This post on The Feminist Feline took all of my thoughts that I couldn't quite put into words and said them.

If you haven't guessed it, I love affirmations! I always forget to use them, but Jemma reminds us that affirmations lead to a positive mind.

These Five Things You Must Tell Your Parents Before They Die is so, so important.

Marinashutup is one of my favorite vloggers and this video about her struggles with depression really hits home.

The way that schools are slut shaming and humiliating young girls makes me so, so angry.

Speaking of schools, these feminist high school students are amazing. Thank you for being a part of world change.

Sometimes I need to read things like this post on How to Explain Feminism to Non-Feminist Women in a Non-Threatening Way. I definitely needed this.

Falling From Grace posted the best blog about transgender models. You go girl!

This week, I discovered Anastasia Amour and her positive blog - this post on authenticity and anxiety spoke to me.

Sorry to turn on your waterworks buuuut....I had to do it. This story is beautiful and heart wrenching.

All of this is just a total yes. I can't even handle the truth in this Buzzfeed Video about being a woman on the internet/

This mom tells it like it is, and I couldn't be more proud of her.

Would you take a second to do a survey about the WQ links posts?

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #10

So, this week's posts are incredibly blog heavy because all of you warrior queens have been going crazy in blogland, making me a happy warrior queen!

I still have a ton of links saved from last week that I can't wait to share, but I totally didn't want to overwhelm you all!!

On Thursday there was quite the controversy (on top of the existing controversy) around Ray Rice's suspension because women were continuing to wear his jersey, sparking a hashtag discussion called #WhyIStayed. Alyssa's touching story will give you some insight into why a woman may stay.

I need to read this book, Bare Reality.

Ally's words on Why We Need Feminism, couldn't ring more true with our society.

Tiffany is always such an inspiration to me and I absolutely love her 19 Ways to be Happy Right Now.

Join Brielle (and the rest of us) in realizing our self-worth through #IAmMarvelous

Rachel wrote the best letter to her single girlfriends #youareloved!

Speaking of letters, Lisa (who has the most adorable new baby girl!) wrote a letter to her daughter on her thoughts on marriage, and I couldn't agree more!

Oh em gee, Nina's post on that new song that skinny shames makes me so happy! I am a body love / acceptance advocate!!

Of course, I would love Amber's guest post on Ashten's blog stating "I Am The Queen of Me"

Shockingly, I've never read any of these books Paulina says that Every Woman Should Read and I need to get on it.

Lastly, look at my momma rock her first session of chemo! Her second one is on Tuesday! #FightLikeAWarriorQueen

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #9

Oh hey, don't mind me shuffling back in here...I have had what is arguably the worst week of my life. Today, was a good day. I am hoping it brings with it a good week. It doesn't have to be particularly amazing, just more normal or better than last week would be nice.

The only thing I could bring myself to do this week is find articles and blogs to share today. Couldn't even find the time to post about this until Sunday night...

There are so many links that I might have to save some for next week!!

Do you ever go on Upworthy? I love this website's videos that challenge you and make you think. This week I discovered this video from Everytown for Gun Safety.

Dress code violations are part of every student's school life (at least, I think it is). We always had to wear our p.e. clothes if we got in trouble. This school took it a step further, to embarrass the students.

I can't smile enough because of this amazing designer at New York Fashion Week (and I'm not a fashion week type of gal.) Love what she did!

Alyssa Nicole's school is doing big things to bring awareness to sexual assault on campus. Every college should be doing this!!

I just discovered Chelsea's blog and not only am I loving ALL of it, but I love this post she wrote on thigh gaps.

I absolutely love what this company is doing with their lingerie!! Also, I realize I read Buzzfeed a LOT

What is the perfect body? This one is, of course!

This senior thesis performance art is the perfect demonstration and hopefully, will bring justice and awareness.

You've probably heard about the leaked celebrity nude photos, I thought this article was the best response.

If you only read one of my links, it should absolutely be this one. As the daughter of someone with breast cancer, this blog really changed my view on all of the Breast Cancer Awareness merchandise out there.

I'm saving the rest for next week!! Hope you have a wonderful week

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #8

Woah, this week has been such a roller coaster for me. I missed all of my fun blogging time and the support of you wonderful ladies!!

I think next week I'll probably post a "life lately" type of post so you can see just all of the craziness that I've been dealing with over here! But, I feel like I can handle things so much better now! Yay!!

These links seriously inspire and touch my heart. I hope you enjoy them :)

Llinos from Inspiration After Illness captured my heart with her "Stay in the Picture" post last week. She has had a journey of strength and is such an inspiration to me.

My girl Kerensia - a high school friend - just started this Youtube Channel for her Yoga classes and, boy am I excited! Also, is it weird that I still have a pair of boxer shorts I borrowed from her 10 years ago? They still fit!

Kid President is AWESOME. I love his list of 20 Things We Should Say More Often.

We stand together, in solidarity. Choose yourself!

Love is my religion, and these 15 Love Truths tug at my heart.

I've always loved Tegan and Sarah for their music, but this behind the scenes look at the two of them, makes me love them even more.

These gorgeous photographs a mother took of her one-handed daughter are breathtaking.

We're always talking about women protecting themselves from rape. Some argue that we should focus more on men to prevent them from raping. I think we should do both. This new nail polish can change the world for some women.

What do you guys think of these links? Let me know!

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #7

Over the years, Barbie has always been controversial for her looks - but her career path has always been on point (I never thought I needed to look like my Barbie like some people say). Finally, there is Entrepreneur Barbie - along with an Entrepreneur program for young girls! STOKED.

This Warrior Queen (literally, she is nicknamed that by her friends, like I am), is fighting like a girl!

I'm loving this 13 year old girl who pitched the first shut out game in Little League World Series history.

Every girl should feel comfortable about all parts of her body. Note: NSFW.

Calling Miley Cyrus a slut is wrong on so many levels, especially the one that allows women to have sexuality.

Well, that's all I've got for you today! I've been trying to get all prepped for back to school next week (and write all my blog posts) Wish me luck!!

How do you get the perfect bikini body? You put a bikini on your body. I love this.

Woah, this blogger did something that every girl is terrified to do - and the world's better because of it!!

We all struggle with self-esteem, but for some of us it is much harder. Awareness leads to change!

As a Warrior Queen, I try to go through life with as much grace as possible. Check out these tips on simple elegance.

What's your favorite position?

Buzzfeed tells us these things that we should never be ashamed of. I agree!

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #5

Woah, hey! It's late in the day :) Since I didn't feel well most of last week,  I moseyed around yesterday after my work meeting and then some friends came over and I didn't quite finish scheduling this.

I'm just so excited to share these links every week, and can't believe we are already at 5!!

Of course I believe, men should be feminists, too. This website dedicated to the new misogyny makes me really happy. It's ran  by a MAN. He also has a website called Confused Cats Against Feminism which really makes me laugh. Shout out to Michelle, for telling me about it!

The Bloggess is another awesome feminist blogger, who writes about Women Who Are Ambivalent About Women Against Women Against Feminism (it's a mouthful, but a good read that gets you thinking).

This is one of the truest examples of #BeBrave that I've ever seen! So proud of this Warrior Queen and what she's overcome.

This high school girl is exactly who I was in high school, and someone that I still strive to be.

Do you know where you stand in your universe? This self-reflection is definitely a warrior queen moment.

Have a great week!!

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #4

I've felt a bit more empowered this week than usual. Maybe it's a combination of knowing what is going to happen with my mom and feeling more in control of my anxiety (because just having a plan makes me feel better).

This week's links are very blog-heavy, which makes me super happy!! I can't wait to hear what you think about them.

Are you a believer or a skeptic? Elizabeth at October June talks about how at the very least, you should believe in yourself.

I just love the #DontTrySoHard link up over at Treasure Tromp. I met Nicole at a Bloggers Giving Back event and she is absolutely the sweetest. This link up is perfect for anyone who is feeling a little down on themselves.

Everyone seriously needs to go read this blog post about telling our stories and follow Britt immediately. She's new to the blog world and totally going places, and I can't wait to see where life takes her. Oh, and on a personal note, I've known her for ten years...and her son is the cutest thing ever.

What is the perfect beauty ideal? The world may never know.

If you're looking for some new cool online magazines The LaLa went live this week and I'm happy to be a part of Global Young Executive

While I'm not a mom of a pre-teen yet, these 4 Ways To Help Your Pre-Teen Daughter to Navigate Attention to Her New Body really has me thinking of ways that I can embrace this as a teacher, and a role model to other young girls. (And boys, I'm really on a mission to show my brother in laws how to respect girls)

I was reading Worship & Swag the other day and she wrote about Get U.G.L.Y., a book being unconditionally grateful looking like you. If you subscribe to the author's blog, you can get the book for free!

This is an amazing BuzzFeed article on advocating for breastfeeding. What are your thoughts?

If you don't know the definition of feminism, I challenge you to look it up. Either way, why should it matter to you if someone is a feminist? I love this blog post.

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #3

Good morning from lovely Las Vegas!!

I am so excited about these links that I've been compiling throughout the week. I love all of your feedback on this as well!!! I hope you enjoy these links I've found below. I feel so much more WQ empowered when I'm searching out these links, and I hope these articles and blogs help you feel more like a WQ as well!
p.s. I may have gone a little crazy but each of these links are worth it, I promise!

What do you do to be more confident? Check out these 5 tips to boost yours.

How do you feel about your self-worth? Warrior Queens are all about embracing their self-worth!

Don't mind me, I'm just getting obsessed with this Vlogger and the way she explains feminism to celebrities.

Do you perpetuate these 8 lies about teen motherhood? I wrote a little something about this a few months ago.

This app could save a Domestic Abuse Victim's life. What do you think about it?

Join Coming Up Roses' "I Am" movement. You know I'm a sucker for any self-love, empowerment movements!

Meredith Graves blows me away with this line: "So in my body is a good place to be because functionally speaking, I know at the end of the day that it's the only home I've ever had and it's the only home I ever will have"

A Message From a Bully-er. This is something that you don't usually hear and really makes you think.

I need to print all of these quotes and put them around the world.

Have a wonderful day!

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #2

Oh hi blog, thank you for patiently waiting for me to come back to you. I've been missing you greatly - but my mind has been other places. I'll explain everything later this week. Let's just sum it up with #AnxietyProblems.

Of course I am too excited to share these links this week, so I was able to calm my anxiety long enough to jump up. Tomorrow will be our last 5 Little Grins and I will probably be starting up Weekly Goals with Melyssa at the Nectar Collective. I have a feeling that will help with my anxiety, too!

Anyway, read these amazing articles and blogs!

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #1

Lately, I've been trying to figure out how to take this blog back to its roots. If you've been reading for awhile, you know that I originally only posted about warrior queen things - women's issues, girl stuff, relationships, etc. It wasn't very personal. Last year, I decided to make everything more personal and since then my following has grown immensely.

You guys like to know about my life and you like my lifestyle blog. My most popular posts are usually my wedding posts, but they are followed by the heartfelt "warrior queen" posts and do good posts that I love to write. My struggle with those posts is that they're extremely emotionally draining to write consecutively.
