Picking your bridesmaids can be both an easy and daunting task. Easy, because you may have the greatest group of girls alongside you. Daunting, because you may have difficulty narrowing it down, or finding girls that are perfect for the job.
Bridesmaids are more than just a friend - they are an emotional and physical support system. They're going to be there to help you make the decisions, create your ideas and listen to you wail about napkin colors (if you're into that sort of thing). It's not an easy task, and some girls aren't up to the job. Be sure not to ostracize your friends if they ask to be a guest only. Perhaps you can make them honorary bridesmaids, like I did.
Both bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids! |
When it came time to officially ask, I put together these cute little boxes for the girls!
I bought the boxes from Michael's, along with some heart stickers and a glittery wood letter of their first initial. For my maid of honor, I got her MOH. Which is a play on words because her nickname is Mo, so it was sort of perfect.
I painted the outside of the box white, glued a moustache on top and stuck the sticker on the side. I knew I wanted to use moustaches because I thought this was the only time I would be able to incorporate moustaches into my wedding. Of course, I was wrong.
The inside included the wood letter on top of some shredded paper filler and a couple of pieces of cardstock. In retrospect, it would have been perfect to include a piece of chocolate, such as one of the Lindt HELLO sticks. I added them to my boxes, and they just really put them over the top, after all, our friendships did all begin with HELLO!
Beneath where the chocolate should have gone, had a cute poem I used to ask the girls.
The second had the other girls who are bridesmaids, and a personal note for the recipient.
The third included the style of dress I'd like them to wear.
The fourth included important information.
It's funny to look back at these, because some of the things changed, including the date of our wedding! I enjoyed writing all of this out and my bridesmaids absolutely loved it.
When I thought about resharing this - and the chocolate - I asked one of my bridesmaid's to bring the box over so that I could recreate how awesome it would be with the chocolate. Of course, I'm giving her the chocolate as a thank you for letting me borrow the box.
Speaking of the chocolate, let me tell you a little more about it! ReplyDeleteVery sweet! I can only imagine how excited your bridesmaids were. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously the most awesome, thoughtful, amazing way to ask someone to be a bridesmaid, and to reassure them about your hopes for their role in the wedding. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I thought I was tired of the sponsored posts about these chocolates. They've been all over my blog feed the last week. But yours was so original! I love how you asked your friends to be bridesmaids. Do you have wedding pictures on the blog? I want to see these unique flame dresses!
ReplyDeleteThese chocolates sound great. I hope your bridesmaids liked them.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you asked your bridesmaids! I did something similar but with no sweets :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a super cute and "sweet" way to ask someone to be your bridesmaid! :) I love it!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I also wanted to ask in a fun way, I scrapbooked a poem for each of them along with a frame that said bridesmaid! I think it's so great to make them feel special too!
ReplyDeleteThis is way cute! I'm so glad i didn't have a problem with this, I just had Brand's sisters be the brides maids becasue I didn't really have any particular friend I wanted. haha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and fun way to pop the big question (of being the bridesmaid)!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Those chocolates are so yummy and you really came up with a creative way to share them.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I love the idea of bridesmaid boxes. If my hubby ever re-do our vows and have a proper wedding, I want to do something similar!
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest thing I have ever heard of. I have never seen anyone ask there family/friends to be bridesmades in any kind of creative way. Such a cute and thoughtful idea. I am sure each girl loved it

ReplyDeletemm, I love the caramel brownie, but the coffee one is actually my favorite Lindt bar!! Eeek, don't stress! My friend (who is also not engaged but been with her boyfriend for almost 5 years) is stressing the same! The only advice I can give, is to pick people who will be so helpful, instead of the people closest to you. I wish I had done that
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jordan!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha, moustaches are my favorite so I couldn't resist!!!
ReplyDeletethat is so awesome!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyumm, they are so delicious! Thanks Angie!

ReplyDeleteAh, that is awesome!! I've only been asked to be a bridesmaid once (the wedding is in Feb) and it was such an awesome feeling!! p.s. the chocolates are GREAT! Enter to win some!!
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you so much! It was fun to create!!

ReplyDeleteww, thank you so much Michelle!!! I'm so happy that it went over so well with my bridesmaids!!
ReplyDeletehahaha, I definitely have been seeing them everywhere! That's why I wanted to do something completely different. I'm glad it worked out!! I do have wedding pictures (http://www.beawarriorqueen.com/search/label/holly%20lynn%20photography) BUT we didn't end up with flame dresses. They were too expensive for the girls, and didn't have the exact color I wanted at David's Bridal so we ended up with gray dresses with red shoes :)
ReplyDeleteThey definitely did!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I didn't originally include the sweets - but I totally should have!
ReplyDeletehahaha, thank you Carly!!
