Picking your bridesmaids can be both an easy and daunting task. Easy, because you may have the greatest group of girls alongside you. Daunting, because you may have difficulty narrowing it down, or finding girls that are perfect for the job.
Bridesmaids are more than just a friend - they are an emotional and physical support system. They're going to be there to help you make the decisions, create your ideas and listen to you wail about napkin colors (if you're into that sort of thing). It's not an easy task, and some girls aren't up to the job. Be sure not to ostracize your friends if they ask to be a guest only. Perhaps you can make them honorary bridesmaids, like I did.

Both bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids! |
When it came time to officially ask, I put together these cute little boxes for the girls!
I bought the boxes from Michael's, along with some heart stickers and a glittery wood letter of their first initial. For my maid of honor, I got her MOH. Which is a play on words because her nickname is Mo, so it was sort of perfect.
I painted the outside of the box white, glued a moustache on top and stuck the sticker on the side. I knew I wanted to use moustaches because I thought this was the only time I would be able to incorporate moustaches into my wedding. Of course, I was wrong.
The inside included the wood letter on top of some shredded paper filler and a couple of pieces of cardstock. In retrospect, it would have been perfect to include a piece of chocolate, such as one of the Lindt HELLO sticks. I added them to my boxes, and they just really put them over the top, after all, our friendships did all begin with HELLO!
Beneath where the chocolate should have gone, had a cute poem I used to ask the girls.
The second had the other girls who are bridesmaids, and a personal note for the recipient.
The third included the style of dress I'd like them to wear.
The fourth included important information.
It's funny to look back at these, because some of the things changed, including the date of our wedding! I enjoyed writing all of this out and my bridesmaids absolutely loved it.
When I thought about resharing this - and the chocolate - I asked one of my bridesmaid's to bring the box over so that I could recreate how awesome it would be with the chocolate. Of course, I'm giving her the chocolate as a thank you for letting me borrow the box.
