Warrior Queen Confidence + Free Sample

Thanks to U by Kotex® Pads for sponsoring today's discussion
When I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, I experienced something that is one of every girl's nightmares. Vegas is usually a time for confidence and sexiness and the skimpier clothing, the better. I left for the weekend excited and ecstatic and all around ready for a Vegas trip...for hours spent at the pool, only to realize in the car ride over that it was that weekend. You know what weekend I'm talking about. The one weekend a month when I dread having to go to a pool...or in this worst case situation, share a hotel room with someone other than my husband.

Of course, I got my period while we were sharing a hotel room with Iman's friend. All I could think about was how excited I was to spend the weekend in the pool, until my cramps started as we drove to Vegas and I felt such a sinking feeling.

I wasn't just worried about my undies, I was worried about everything. Ever since I went off birth control, my periods have become less predictable. Note to everyone else, don't decide to end your birth control mid week so you start your period on the weekend. Worst decision, EVER.

Until, U by Kotex came into my life, that is.

It feels like my periods been getting progressively worse and my confidence has definitely wavered around this time of the month. I wasn't ever one to rock white while on my period, or rock the tampons. I've always been more of a pad person. Normally confident and bubbly me, was finding more reasons to stay inside during that weekend a month.

I'm totally going undie shopping this weekend  and I am feeling confident enough to buy some sexy new undies to wear at any time of the month. U by Kotex definitely saves my undies.

When I was in Vegas, I felt comfortable enough to sleep in pajama shorts, while sharing a room with a guy that is not my husband. And it worked. The 3-D Core technology is amazing. I didn't realize that a pad could feel so comfortable and be so effective. I had written my period weeks off to being uncomfortable and lacking confidence.

I remember the days when I didn't get my period (gotta love Implanon - it's the best form of birth control!) but when the dosage started running out and I went back onto Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo my period got worse. Then I went off birth control and they got worse, again.

None of that seems to matter now that I've got U by Kotex. I guarantee you can feel the same way as me, too. Many of my friends aren't tampon girls, but they wear them because they feel weird wearing pads. I shared my little secret with them (in the form of these wonderful FREE samples) and they are just as excited as me.

Even if you're a tampon girl, U by Kotex has got you covered. Sometimes a pad is more comfortable at night (so you don't have to worry about TSS, amiright?).

So on those days when my confidence is subpar - U by Kotex is by my side, and they'll be right there with you, too.

Neocell Beauty Review

I received this product as compensation for this review. All opinions are my own.

This is officially my first full-blown product review and I'm really excited. Not only because I have a giveaway at the end, but because I loved these products.

I normally dislike writing reviews - I blame my journalism days and internship. At one point I got all reviewed out, which is why you haven't seen any reviews on my blog. If I'm writing a review, you know it's for something good!

At the end of June, I received Neocell's Beauty Bursts and Keratin Hair Volumizer. I was so excited to start the beauty bursts because - well - I love candy and that is exactly what they taste like!! I got the berry burst, because I had read in another review they tasted like Starbursts. I'm all about the Starbursts. Plus, if I can chew my vitamins, I am a happy girl. (Aka, when I found out they have gummy prenatals I decided I could get pregnant.)

I was super excited to see these Beauty Bursts at Sprouts, so that I can replenish my stock. A recommended dosage is 2 per day, and I can honestly say I looked forward to chewing them.

Not only did they taste delicious, but they saved my skin! I probably didn't mention it on here because I don't usually talk about my appearance, but for the past 6 months or so, I had a weird dry spot on my left cheek. No matter what I did, it would always come back. I think it's from my contact solution. But I tried everything my friends and I could think of and it always came back.

Before, notice the discoloration and bumps on my left cheek

Well now it is gone! My skin is SO soft and definitely not dry. Also, I'm sure my skin would look worlds better if I washed my face on a daily basis, but I suck at creating habits...so there's that.

After! Even skin tone, no more dry patch

The Keratin Hair Volumizer is a pill, which is not usually my cup of tea. I really suck at remembering to swallow pills, so I didn't take these as religiously. My hair is quite voluminous on its own though, so I wasn't super concerned. I was lucky enough to receive two bottles, and I gave one to my mom because she has thin hair (aka opposite of me). She hasn't started taking them yet, but she is saving them for when she is growing her hair back after chemo.

The Beauty Bursts do not contain gluten, soy, palm oil, or artificial colors or flavors.  They contain Hydrolyzed Collagen 1 & 3, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, rice syrup, dried cane syrup, sunflower lecithin and oil, citrus bioflavinoids.  40 calories per serving of two.

The Keratin Hair Volumizer containst Cynatine HNS Solubilized Kerating, Hydrolyzed Super Collagen, Amla Extract and Vitamin C.

Now for the giveaway!! One lucky winner will receive both the Beauty Bursts (in Berry or Chocolate Mint) and Keratin Hair Volumizer! The winner will be notified by email and must reply within 48 hours. The prize will come directly from Neocell.

Creating a Beautiful Little Christmas

Good morning! Have you started thinking about Christmas? I'm one of those "fly by the seat of your pants" Christmas people. It's not uncommon for me to get gifts on Christmas Eve. Last year, I learned my lesson when my father went into the hospital a few days before Christmas and stayed until New Years Eve. I was so unprepared that I almost didn't finish all of my holiday gift getting and almost missed a party or two.

Luckily, Teri Ahlm from A Beautiful Life has created an e-book called Creating a Beautiful Little Christmas. I just finished it and I loved it! I'm planning on flipping back through it as I begin to feel stressed for the holidays. She's shared this teaser with us:

Staying out of the shopping trap

staying out of the shopping trap

This is the first post in a series to help you create a beautiful little Christmas for you and your family this year - and with the black friday ads already being leaked and Oprah's "Favorite Things" all over the news I thought I'd start with a post about shopping during the holiday season.

I saw an article yesterday on how to stay safe on black friday. Meaning how to not get trampled to death at WalMart and how to not get mugged walking from your car to the mall. Merry Christmas! Really?

Quick - grab a piece of paper and a pen. At the top of the paper, write "2012" and draw a line under it. Now try to list the Christmas presents that you bought last year and who they were for. Ready? GO!

Granted, I have a TERRIBLE memory, but I'm embarrassed to say that I could only remember a few things. The gifts that I remember are the ones that I knew were the perfect gifts...a telescope for my oldest son that I spent hours researching to find an affordable one that wasn't junk...a bigger computer monitor for my younger son that is a gamer.

The small things - the "fill-in" gifts that I thought were so important - well let's just say that I could have passed. There's the game that hasn't been played, the tie clip that hasn't been worn... good ideas in theory but not necessary.
The Four Gift Rule
I like the idea of 4 gifts - 1 that they want, 1 that they need, 1 thing to wear and 1 thing to read. It may require a bit of customization for the guys that are in desperate need of clothes (all 3 of them) but overall, I think I'll be better off this year skipping all of those little things and focus on the things that will mean the most.

I know that the research will take a good bit of time, but think of all the time I'll save shopping this year - not to mention the money! And on black friday, I'm sleeping in!
