When I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, I experienced something that is one of every girl's nightmares. Vegas is usually a time for confidence and sexiness and the skimpier clothing, the better. I left for the weekend excited and ecstatic and all around ready for a Vegas trip...for hours spent at the pool, only to realize in the car ride over that it was that weekend. You know what weekend I'm talking about. The one weekend a month when I dread having to go to a pool...or in this worst case situation, share a hotel room with someone other than my husband.

Of course, I got my period while we were sharing a hotel room with Iman's friend. All I could think about was how excited I was to spend the weekend in the pool, until my cramps started as we drove to Vegas and I felt such a sinking feeling.

I wasn't just worried about my undies, I was worried about everything. Ever since I went off birth control, my periods have become less predictable. Note to everyone else, don't decide to end your birth control mid week so you start your period on the weekend. Worst decision, EVER.

It feels like my periods been getting progressively worse and my confidence has definitely wavered around this time of the month. I wasn't ever one to rock white while on my period, or rock the tampons. I've always been more of a pad person. Normally confident and bubbly me, was finding more reasons to stay inside during that weekend a month.

Hold Your Head High

Literally...

So, I went to the chiropractor last week and got some x-rays done because they were doing a special and my back has been killing me forever. Yesterday, I got to see my awesome X-Rays. Only they aren't so awesome because...they show that my back is super messed up and so is my neck and I get to spend the next year or so getting adjusted and fixed.

The good news is that, since your nervous system controls all aspects of your body, I will be getting healthier all around! Also, hoping he puts me on a food plan / exercise plan so that I will actually stick to it for once. 

Since then, I've realized something. 

I always say "Walk Tall," "Hold your head high," "Chin Up," etc and physically, I am not doing this. 

My bad posture shows my stress that I carry in my shoulders. It shows the way that, even when I stand up for myself, I feel guilty for doing so. On Saturday I stood up for myself and what I believed in. I stood with my head high, and then afterward...emotionally drained...I hung my head.

I believe that my empathy is to blame, but I should not feel ashamed nor guilty for standing up for myself. I don't always have to apologize. I am a Warrior Queen and I need to stand like I own me. 

Remember, confidence is contagious :)

Confidence, use it.

The other day I (Katy) was chatting with Raewyn, expressing my feelings about how confidence has made a huge impact on my life recently and she kindly asked me to write about it for her blog! So here I am to express my opinion on confidence! :)


Confidence, everyone has it, but not everyone uses it. I’m pretty sure if you were to ask any male (over the age of 18) what the sexiest thing a girl could possibly wear is, he’d answer confidence. That is however after he jokingly states “nothing.” The power of confidence is completely overlooked. Confidence is what gives us power, it makes us “warrior queens.” It gives us the ability to overcome fears, stand a little bit taller, and gives us the ability to walk into a room full of girls and not feel inferior. It also allows us to stand in the buff in front of a boy and actually enjoy ourselves instead of worrying about what he’s thinking about our bodies. Confidence has to be one of the most powerful tools a girl can have, we just need to know how to use it. Eleanor Roosevelt said it best when she said, “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.” So why are we not using it? Why do we let others make us feel inferior? I can speak from personal experience when I say that confidence is amazing, it has allowed me to enjoy life without worrying what others are thinking, and do you know how amazing that feeling is? How do we gain confidence? We need to embrace who we are, stop looking at ourselves in the mirror picking out what’s wrong with our bodies, and instead think about how amazing our bodies, you are YOU, that’s what makes you special. Perhaps you don’t have legs for days like Cameron Diaz, but your smile is probably brighter than the sun. We are more than what meets the eye, beauty is but only skin deep. Confidence allows our personalities to shine, and gives us the oomph to stand a bit taller and do things we once were too “afraid” to do, such as call a boy first, wear a specific outfit you thought you “couldn’t pull off” or apply for a specific job you didn’t think you could get. Confidence goes hand in hand with positive thinking. If you think you’re amazing, you are, others will pick up on it and believe it too.

So my little warrior queens, let me remind you how beautiful you are, no matter what anyone else says. Stand tall, feel beautiful and use that powerful tool inside you called confidence to take charge of your own life. :)

Confidence

Confidence. Guys say that's the sexiest quality in a girl. Girls say that's the sexiest quality in a guy. Employers look for confidence in potential employees. It seems like confidence is the answer to solving most problems. With confidence, anything is achievable.

But self-consciousness can strike at any time. I've been procrastinating writing this blog for two nights because I'm not feeling confident that what I'm writing is what people want to hear. But then I realized - I don't care. I think my ideas are good ones - my friends agree with me and the warrior queen creed. Writing this blog is a learning process - and only in time will I be able to get the confidence in this style of writing. [[Ironic though, that as I write this about confidence, mine is lacking.]]

Warrior Queens are confident - even when underneath it all they are freaking out and having anxiety attacks. Take this week for example - it seems to be a week of anxiety attacks, freak outs, and an all around lack of confidence in myself and my group of friends. But, as Avril says we are "the best damn thing."

When times get less than confident for the Warrior Queens, we have a tendency to write "WQ" on our wrists, hands, etc to remind ourselves that we are strong girls and we can do anything. Anyone can do anything, if you set your mind to it and have confidence. Even if you have nothing, confidence is enough to convince others that you have everything.
