Warrior Queen Confidence + Free Sample

Thanks to U by Kotex® Pads for sponsoring today's discussion
When I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, I experienced something that is one of every girl's nightmares. Vegas is usually a time for confidence and sexiness and the skimpier clothing, the better. I left for the weekend excited and ecstatic and all around ready for a Vegas trip...for hours spent at the pool, only to realize in the car ride over that it was that weekend. You know what weekend I'm talking about. The one weekend a month when I dread having to go to a pool...or in this worst case situation, share a hotel room with someone other than my husband.

Of course, I got my period while we were sharing a hotel room with Iman's friend. All I could think about was how excited I was to spend the weekend in the pool, until my cramps started as we drove to Vegas and I felt such a sinking feeling.

I wasn't just worried about my undies, I was worried about everything. Ever since I went off birth control, my periods have become less predictable. Note to everyone else, don't decide to end your birth control mid week so you start your period on the weekend. Worst decision, EVER.

Until, U by Kotex came into my life, that is.

It feels like my periods been getting progressively worse and my confidence has definitely wavered around this time of the month. I wasn't ever one to rock white while on my period, or rock the tampons. I've always been more of a pad person. Normally confident and bubbly me, was finding more reasons to stay inside during that weekend a month.

I'm totally going undie shopping this weekend  and I am feeling confident enough to buy some sexy new undies to wear at any time of the month. U by Kotex definitely saves my undies.

When I was in Vegas, I felt comfortable enough to sleep in pajama shorts, while sharing a room with a guy that is not my husband. And it worked. The 3-D Core technology is amazing. I didn't realize that a pad could feel so comfortable and be so effective. I had written my period weeks off to being uncomfortable and lacking confidence.

I remember the days when I didn't get my period (gotta love Implanon - it's the best form of birth control!) but when the dosage started running out and I went back onto Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo my period got worse. Then I went off birth control and they got worse, again.

None of that seems to matter now that I've got U by Kotex. I guarantee you can feel the same way as me, too. Many of my friends aren't tampon girls, but they wear them because they feel weird wearing pads. I shared my little secret with them (in the form of these wonderful FREE samples) and they are just as excited as me.

Even if you're a tampon girl, U by Kotex has got you covered. Sometimes a pad is more comfortable at night (so you don't have to worry about TSS, amiright?).

So on those days when my confidence is subpar - U by Kotex is by my side, and they'll be right there with you, too.

Weekly Wishes #3

Well it's Monday and I've got big goals for myself this week! I noticed yesterday that overall I'm feeling more calm and more intentional. I keep just taking time to just relax and do things instead of freaking out and frantically doing things and then spending time lethargic because I'm so stressed. Could this be the Prozac? Let's hope so! School starts in 2 weeks, so let's see where I am with my progress!

1// Get a solid plan for teaching next year. Check! I know which schools I'm at, what times they start and end and I'm figuring out traffic this week!

2// Seriously, yoga and gym! Well, this was a fail since I couldn't breathe or stand most of the week. #SickGirlProblems

3// Take a day and just be. Ahh, this was so wonderful and I must do it again!!

4// Schedule all of my blog posts! I got most of them scheduled! The only day I missed was Friday because of the concert.

The Nectar Collective

1// Start waking up earlier. I'm horrible at waking up early and on time. In 2 weeks I will have to start leaving for work at 5am again, so I should probably learn to wake up before 9.

2// Send the letters I've been meaning to send. I hve been so horrible at this! We need to finish our thank you cards, too.

3// Finish changing my name I just need to do all of my banks, credit and utility companies!

4// Go shopping for some new bras. The girls need some fresh support for the school year!

5// Be there for my cousin as she has her baby!! I just woke up from a dream that she had her baby. I can't wait to meet my new little.

Weekly Warrior Queen Links #5

Woah, hey! It's late in the day :) Since I didn't feel well most of last week,  I moseyed around yesterday after my work meeting and then some friends came over and I didn't quite finish scheduling this.

I'm just so excited to share these links every week, and can't believe we are already at 5!!

Of course I believe, men should be feminists, too. This website dedicated to the new misogyny makes me really happy. It's ran  by a MAN. He also has a website called Confused Cats Against Feminism which really makes me laugh. Shout out to Michelle, for telling me about it!

The Bloggess is another awesome feminist blogger, who writes about Women Who Are Ambivalent About Women Against Women Against Feminism (it's a mouthful, but a good read that gets you thinking).

This is one of the truest examples of #BeBrave that I've ever seen! So proud of this Warrior Queen and what she's overcome.

This high school girl is exactly who I was in high school, and someone that I still strive to be.

Do you know where you stand in your universe? This self-reflection is definitely a warrior queen moment.

Have a great week!!

Carpenter's Daughter for Michael J Foxx's Foundation for Parkinsons

I'm so excited because today you will find me over at The Blog Baton! I love what Mason Like the Jar has done for the blogging community. Of course, lucky me, gets the baton on the day that I'm seeing Eminem and Rihanna's Monster Tour so you better believe there will be some awesome pix! Head on over to insta @theblogbaton to follow along!

Today I want to share with you an amazing cause - and a chance to purchase some awesome handmade headbands from my cousin-in-law (Is that a real thing?) I can't say enough how much I adore Alisha and her company, Carpenter's Daughter. I feel so blessed to have met her, be a part of her family and witness her heart and passion.

Carpenter's Daughter was created by Iman's cousin Alisha. She's 6'1 (they're giants in his family, I swear. His mom was tall, too) and spent much of her life unable to find clothes to fit her. She's created Carpenter's Daughter to create clothing for all body types. Currently, she creates boho headbands, until she gets her fashion degree!

Why Carpenter's Daughter? " I grew up in, and am still inspired by, a very creative family. My Mom works wonders on people's hair and my Dad builds beautiful, custom homes. Watching my parents over the years, I have learned very quickly that hard work & able hands make wonderful masterpieces. To this day, in our spare moments, my Dad & I still make all sorts of custom wood work pieces together like we did when I was a 'little' girl. It was in those precious moments growing up & creating where he taught me about the love of another Carpenter named Jesus Christ."

Until the end of August, Carpenter's Daughter will donate 25% of each purchase of their pink diamond turban headband to the Michael J. Foxx's Foundation for Parkinsons.

Alisha's friend Lauren, is on a mission to honor her Father's legacy through running! In her words, "I got my love of chocolate, music and sports from my dad (he loved to cycle, I love to run). He passed away at age 42 from complications of Parkinson's disease, a neurological disorder. This year I felt convicted to turn my love of running into a greater purpose, one that would honor my dad's memory and work towards the effort to find a cure for Parkinson's, so I signed up for my first FULL marathon to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. When training gets tough, I remind myself to 'Run for Dad, run for those supporting me, and to run for those who can't.' Free movement is such a gift, and I am thankful to be able to use that gift to help find a cure and #outrunparkinsons!"

You can purchase your headband here.

If you'd prefer to donate to Lauren's race, follow this link to her fundraising page.

I absolutely love CD's headbands, and can't wait for my two new ones to come in the mail!!

Alisha has one of the biggest hearts and I truly think we are soul sisters. So go check out Carpenter's Daughter and get your headband. What are you waiting for??

At the very least, go and follow @CarpentersDaughter on Instagram because tomorrow Alisha is hosting a giveaway!  Speaking of giveaways, don't forget about my giveaway!
