At the beginning of the month, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. We do not have it in our family history, so for us it came out of left field. We waited ever so patiently (anxiously) until her appointment last week when they told her it was stage 1.
Their next plan of action was simply to figure out if they were going to do surgery and when. We found out on Friday there may be a chance that she would be having surgery today. Yesterday they said yes, today and then no, Thursday and then maybe it will be another day because the hospital might change.
This part is tough, but anyone who knows anyone who's ever had a life-threatening disease, disorder or illness knows that the doctors will change anything on you at anytime. I know that the doctors will do what is best for my mom but it is still a very scary thing.
The good news is that it is one of the most treatable types of breast cancer - and breast cancer is one of the most treatable types of cancer. In addition to this, she finally has her answers as to why she has felt crappy for quite some time. With all of the positive thoughts in the world, she goes into remission soon, and stays that way.
I am very blessed for the support system that I do have. At first, I was unsure if I could tell anyone. Of course, Iman knew right away. He is as much one of my mom's children as my brother and I. She just loves us three kids so much, and we love her! I'm seriously so grateful to Jess and my other best friends that have been there for me, checking up on us all. It makes me feel so much better.
My mom is such a strong woman. She taught me how to be a warrior queen and I know she will get through this!
And for you, my readers, thank you so much for everything and all of the support!!
