The Unexpected Death of a Pet

If you've been around for the summer you probably noticed that my life has been extremely stressful. As my classes are starting this week, I was hoping things would chill, but Tut Tut always has a different plan for me.

On Sunday my dog passed away. It was 100% unexpected.

My brother woke up in the morning and noticed that Crash was acting funny. Mostly, laying around listlessly and collapsing. Crash was 10 years old but he ran around like a puppy. They took him to the vet and he passed away shortly after they took him to the back to run tests.

My mom called me at work. I've been expecting a call about my grandfather, so when I found out it was my dog, I was a complete wreck.

Unfortunately, I had to stay at work for my whole shift. No one could come in and work for me. I didn't get to go to the vet and say goodbye to him. I really feel so weird talking about it. On the one hand, it doesn't feel real since I don't live with my mom anymore, so we didn't see him day to day.

Crash was an avid writer

When I think about it though, I get so sad and start to cry immediately. He was super silly and smart and fun. He was a rat terrier and he was big for his breed. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. I wanted to name him Spinner and we were trying to teach him how to spin. Instead, he just crashed into everything.

His puppy days!!

Crash's favorite place was Glamis. He loved going to the desert and camping. Whenever he would hear a dirtbike or see a trailer he would get so excited. We're going to spread his ashes in the desert this winter. It will be the first time we all go there as a family since I graduated from high school. It will be Iman's first time with the whole family.

He loved to give kisses!

I don't know what to think or say, so if this comes out all scrambled that's why. I know that it was his time and I know that we will all heal, but miss him every day. There will never be another dog like him and I'm so happy that he picked our family to be his.

And he loved to be a clown with my best friends and I

Call me crazy, but I believe in ghosts and spirits and the universe making things happen when and as they should. The happenings I recount could all be coincidence, but I really feel like they are not.

When my mom went into surgery she had a dream and saw Bear and Chiquito - two dogs belonging to close family members of ours. Both dogs passed away several years ago. My mom took them as guardians for her surgery. Now we are thinking, that they were telling her it was almost Crash's time.

Crash visiting us a few weeks ago.

In the weeks before he passed away, he was able to come and stay with Iman and I, something that had never happened before. On top of that, he was friendly with other dogs!! We were thinking about  getting him a puppy friend - something that never really happened. He loved people and cats, but didn't like other dogs, too much.

On Sunday, after my mom left the vet, she went to her classroom to set up. Three stray puppies came running up to her classroom. She pet them and gave them food, knowing that Crash sent them to her.

Two boy puppies!

Yesterday, we went back together and the runt of the litter was hanging out by her door alone. We were able to lull him into the room and close the doors. While trapped in the room with us, he kept letting us pet him and try to lick us. My mom went to the car and grabbed Crash's leash and put it on him.

As soon as we tried to get him to walk while we are holding the leash, he freaked out and did a crazy dance and escaped, running over to where his siblings were. We were able to go over there and catch him still, because he trusts us!

I brought my car over to where they were and were able to coax all three into my car!! My mom took them home. They all have some element of Crash to them. Iman and I are sort of in love with the girl one, which works perfect because my mom and brother fell in love with the boys!

This little girl.

So.. we will see. These dogs cannot replace our beloved Crash, but I know that he sent them to us so that we could all heal and he sent those dogs to us because he knew we would give them amazing homes.

Have you ever lost a pet? How long did you wait until you got a new one?

Cleaning: The Drinking Game

Well, lookie here, it's 10:30 on Friday morning (which means it is much later on the East Coast) and I'm just now getting around to writing a blog...since Wednesdsay. I am so beyond tired and I have no idea why.

It might have something to do with my medication. The pharmacist said to switch to night if it made me drowsy, although drowsy is not one of the side effects. Maybe I'm just crazy. Every medication pretty much makes me drowsy, though. Besides ibprofen and NSAIDs.

I was prescribed Prozac, which is an anti-anxiety that many of my friends have been on, or currently are on. I've only taken it on Wednesday and Thursday, and I will be switching to taking it tonight. Hopefully I don't feel drowsy today, because yesterday sucked!!

It might not be from my medicine either - Iman was sort of feeling funny as well. Weird sickness? I'm not sure.

We had dinner with my mom on Wednesday - she's looking great!

At any rate, I really wanted to tell you something super fun we did on Wednesday night!!

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, then you know that I suck at keeping things clean. I have every intention of keeping a clean house, I just get so forgetful / overwhelmed / etc. It's one of my big things about my anxiety - feeling overwhelmed. I am hoping by working on keeping things clean that my anxiety will stay low.

SO to jump start this we cleaned our whole apartment in a cleaning party! Aka Iman and I cleaned together. We made it a drinking game. That makes it fun right?

We just chose to drink while cleaning, but you could make it way more fun. Some ideas I had:

1. Drink for every task you start and complete.
2. Set yourself a timer and if you go over the time alloted to complete a task, chug your drink!
3. If there's a lot of you, divide up and conquer by making it a team game!

What rules would you do include for Cleaning: The Drinking Game?

Being a Kid at Heart

Hi guys!

I don't have a normal Wedding Wednesday post today because I am still awaiting my wedding photography!! I'm so behind on writing thank you cards, but the move and the birthdays really set me back! This week I also started a restaurant job and my at home work for my current company so I'm feeling a little crazy.

I keep forgetting to do things I said I would! Isn't that the worst? I'm sorry if I forgot to do something for you...just shoot me an email and remind me!!

I'm also feeling a bit foggy today. I hope I'm not getting sick :(

I am definitely guest posting about what I'd rather be doing today on Sydney Luella! You should go check out my post about getting away with doing fun kid things as an adult!

Here's a picture of me as a high schooler snuggled up with Iman - in my sweatshirt - (and some other friends) Funny story, this is the same date that he asked me to be his girlfriend 8 years later, and then proposed a year after that.

Happy Hump Day!

Just Breathe: Life Lately

Hiii everybody! Can we take a moment and just breathe?

I feel like everything is rushing past me and I'm in hyperspeed! I've got a ton of things upcoming and I'm trying to arrange my time priorities and I'm just feelin a little exhausted! So I guess this post is a "life lately" type of post. It'll be one part recap, one part looking at the future and one part OMG where is this blog going? :)

It sounds like fun to me.

Anyway, I feel like my life has been consumed with planning this year. I like to plan, but I'm feeling the need for some sponteneity.

March was full of events like my bridal shower and bachelorette party.

April was all about the wedding and honeymooning.

May was filled with fun times with friends and getting ready to move...which leads me to now...we're all moved in and I'm working on unpacking!

June is always one big celebration...It's mine and Iman's birthdays + his best friend's birthday + the end of school + the best month ever! Cassi and I are doing a BIG Blogger's Give Back giveaway this month and we are accepting participants for 2 more days!! Email me to get in on the giveaway!

July is full of 2 Vegas trips, a wedding and my cousin's babyshower!

In August we've got my dad's big 5-0 and my brother's golden birthday -- 21, no less. We're also going to see Eminem and Rihanna AND school will probably start back up.

I can't even think about September yet...

I have no Saturdays free all summer long and I have a feeling that will not bode well with my serving job hunt to make some extra dough. We'll see what happens though...*fingers crossed*

Oh yeah, remember when I did 25 before 25 last year? Well...here's an update...

1. Keep my room clean every day. This has been a goal since childhood -__- bahahahahaha
2. Create and keep a Bedtime Routine. once again, I'm trying this one out with the move...but I don't think 1 day counts as a routine!
3. Do a 30-day Challenge. This month I am doing Erin @ Living Yellow's #1000in30 challenge AND a yoga challenge. WOO
4. Read 25 books. I think I read 2 or 3 max...#fail
5. Blog 10-15 x a month.  Woo! I'm averaging 20-30 now!
6. Become confident in my design ability. Still working on it but feeling optimistic!
7. Make healthier eating habits - don't eat take out for 1 month. Wow, I love to fail on this!
8. Jog 5 miles without stopping. bahahahaha
9. Take my quad up China Wall. we didn't make it out to Glamis for this...next year!
10. Donate Blood. I ended up getting a tattoo, so I'm unable to donate for awhile.
11. Give Chuck some TLC. I'm taking a loss on this one. We really tried to get him smogged but he won't pass. Next year he's gonna get slapped with a non-op registration.
12. Find something for Iman and I to do together regularly (i.e. cooking class or a team)  I would count our fun Friday night bowling/karaoke as a regular together thing!
13. Wear an "outfit" to work every day for a month. I'm still working on my style
14. Sell something for WQ 1000x yes! CMWQ is AMAZING!
15. Cook dinner every day for 2 weeks no, but I'm getting better!
16. Meet a blog friend in real lifeI've met so many! Not to mention, I've got a blog bestie turned real life bestie now! #ilovejess
17. Organize my stuff in the garage / storage unit.
18. Go Paintballing. We have already purchased 2 packages...we just haven't used any.
19. See a meteor shower with Iman
20. Ride in the Great Orange Balloon.
21. Learn to cook on the Weber
22. Decorate a cake.
23. Make a difficult recipe.
24. Send my OSU friends a letter/card once a month starting in September.
25. Start to Vlog again.

8 out of 25 is not very great but we could add in some other accomplishments like...decorate our home, get married, donate a bunch, become a teacher, etc etc. I'm not disappointed with my year!!

I'm so excited to do some revamp stuff this summer, too. I've got so many ideas floating around in my head for the future of this blog! Stay tuned!!
