Five Little Grins Link Up [Week 35]

5 Little Grins

We'll go ahead and say it: Most people think Mondays suck / are the worst / should die a fire-y death. I'm sure you get the picture.

We've all had our fair share of bad Mondays and bad Tuesdays and just plain ol' bad days. Instead of focusing on the bad, what if we focused on the good things?

What if we focused on the little things that made us smile today, yesterday, last week? Could our whole attitude change? In time, would we find that we're having more good days than bad?

Cassandra, Paulina and I would love for you to join us on our weekly link up counting at least 5 things that made you smile in the last week. We could start our Mondays on this positive note!

Of course, this is all about encouragement, so hop on over to some other blogs and leave a positive note and make a new friend!
The Rules! (These are really just kind suggestions)

1. Follow your hosts: Cassandra, Raewyn, and Paulina!

2. Link up your post that includes 5-ish things that made you smile in the past week

3. Comment after you link up

4. Go visit some other blogs and make some friends!

5. Have fun, and don't forget to smile!!
This week I'm smiling about...

1. Surprise trip to Santa Barbara!
Iman was supposed to work out of town last weekend and we didn't hear anything about it, then on Thursday they said "hey, it's actually on this week!" But the amazing news is that they invited me to come. So I got my shifts covered and I'm staying Sunday-Tuesday while my brother cat-sits.

2. VEGAS IS ON THURSDAY!

Flashback to Vegas last year with my Kitty Cat #MyLuckysDoesUsDirty

3. Uhm, hi guys, you're talking to Jess's newest bridesmaid! I am so excited that she and Andy asked me at their engagement party! It's my first time being in the bridal party.

Do you see the excitement in my eyeballs?

4. Jess and Andy were absolutely ADORABLE at their engagement party. Their love makes me so happy omgosh! Also, I was the photographer soo, go comment on my skills on her blog :P

I MEAN CAN YOU HANDLE THIS CUTE??
5. I got to experience Jury Duty without actually sitting on a trial, yay!

Society's Stigmas on Young Pregnancy

While I was at home wallowing in the pain of my bug bitten eye, I vegged out and watched a lot of television. I ended up watching The Pregnancy Pact and The Pregnancy Project. Have you heard of either of those?

They both came out a few years ago and the first is based on a group of teenagers who get pregnant together and the second is about a senior student who fakes a pregnancy for her senior project.

Both are very interesting and both got me thinking about stigmas. I don't know when Iman and I will get pregnant, but I am confident that we would be able to take care of our child and provide a wonderful life now that we've reached this life stage. I never will have that stigma, but it is one that everyone should have a discussion about.

Blogging and Friendship

When I first began blogging, I never realized how much it would affect my friendships. My friends have always been supportive of the Warrior Queen movement, starting my magazine and blogging. They still are very supportive of it. I often get comments on my Facebook posts, other friends come to me for help designing logos and projects and others still get email updates.

I am absolutely so appreciative of all of this. It makes me feel confident that what I am doing really is my path in life. Everyone in my life who knows about my blog is supportive of it. I know that isn't always the case but I am one of those lucky few.

Since I have become serious about blogging, however, I have felt myself changing as a friend. I truly believe that I have been making stronger and firmer friendships. I have become more open about my blogging - sharing it with whoever will listen instead of just with my closest friends.

Wedding Wednesday: Getting Ready

AHH! I absolutely love all of our wedding photos. Iman managed to upload all 800 or so of them to Facebook. I was going to avoid that because of how long it took, but hey, that's why I have him right? To excitedly upload every photo to Facebook for our family and friends to see :)

I know I haven't talked much about the wedding day activities, but that was because I was waiting for this moment - the moment when I can provide pictures as well!!

#SummerBloggerChallenge Summer Plans

This summer I am participating in the #SummerBloggerChallenge. There will be a weekly topic and a link up with other bloggers. It's so fun!

Today's topic (the first topic) is to share our summer plans.

I think I've written a few posts hinting at what my summer plans, but I wanted to share with you a little more details.

I usually spend my summer going to concerts OR working my tush off. This year, I'm balancing working from home, serving and tanning!!

The past few summers have seriously lacked the sunshine because of work and living further from the beach. Therefore I plan on spending a ton of time at the beach. So far, I haven't taken any advantage of it! It's a little difficult because of my leg tattoo, but I'll get 100spf and get my tan on :)

That tan summer #flashback

What are your summer plans?

Life with a Side of Coffee June Giveaway

Watch out! I'm back for a second Saturday in a row, and with a giveaway, too. This month's been full of giveaways!

In case you guys were wondering how my spider bite is doing...it still hurts but the swelling has gone down?
Oh, and after I published yesterday's post I managed to get my car towed. All I can say is, don't take Benadryl and drive, even if it is just down the street because you'll park in the wrong spot. -__-

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Something Always Happens

I'm one of those people who always has something happening. It isn't necessarily something bad happening, and I am certainly never a victim. But there are weird things that happen to me, and often.

Take today for example. This blog post is way late, and I haven't had any time to work from home today. Instead, I've been driving around running errands and laying around...because a spider bit me on my eyebrow. My left eyebrow.

Half of my face has been swollen all day, and then I developed a weird rash on my arm. Let me tell you, it is such a blast over here...lol. The wierdest part is that I've been bit in the same place before. What are the odds?

A trick to curing bug bites - make a baking soda + water paste and put it on. I'm using a
bandaid so the baking soda doesn't fall into my eye.

Since I Said I Do [Guest Post]

Did you notice that we have giveaways on top of giveaways on top of giveaways over here this week? I love it. Speaking of things I love, I absolutely love this guest post from my amazing sponsor Brittany.

Hello, hello! I'm Brittany and I blog over at Everyday Thoughts, a lifestyle blog about my life as a working mom, wannabe cook, quasi fashionista, book-reading, sports-loving, travel guru. I'd love for you to stop by and say hello but in the meantime, Raewyn has so graciously allowed me to take over Be A Warrior Queen for a day and I want to share some of my thoughts on weddings - since I said, "I Do."

There's the man standing anxiously waiting for his bride - cheeks flush and hands sweaty - It's the moment we've all been waiting for. The doors open and...

No matter who the bride is I go right back to my own wedding. Think cartoon dream sequence and that's essentially what is happening in my mind.

I'm at that point in my life where all my friends are either getting married or having babies (and I love it). And of course I adore each and every one of my friends who've walked down the aisle since my own wedding over three years ago, but here are some things I've learned about weddings since I said, "I Do."

  • Your wedding brings up memories of my own. It was such a happy time. Plus, I'm still head-over-heals for my husband and when I see you in a beautiful white dress it just takes me back. That's not to say that I don't want to be at your wedding but I get a flood of memories about my own. Selfish - maybe, but it's truth and it brings me to point #2.
  • When you say your vows - I look at my husband. If either of us are standing in the wedding we lock eyes and almost reaffirm our vows without talking.
  • I'm here to party. The baby's at home and girl you've spent a lot of time and money on your wedding. I'm sure going to drink up enjoy your hard work.
  • I'm overly emotional. Blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol or the vows. Chances are I'll cry, laugh and be completely overcome with an unreasonable amount of emotions during the ceremony and reception. It's like a really bad case of PMS.
  • I appreciate your hard work. I've always enjoyed weddings but I just didn't have a full understanding or appreciation of how much planning goes into throwing the party of your life. Pinterest helps tremendously, but I know you're tired. I know you've been stressed for weeks, maybe months, getting every detail just right. And guess what? It all comes together on your special day and it's beautiful.
  • I look forward to weddings. I love getting the call that my friends are engaged. That they want to spend their lives together. I love the ceremonial part of the wedding when two people vow their hearts and minds to one another, forever. I love the party that follows. I love to pursue the pictures of the happy couple a week or two after the event. I love it all. Basically, I love love.

Well that's all I have for today. Need another reason to check out Everyday Thoughts? Check this out

Be Blessed,
Brittany

Wedding Wednesday: Portraits

Did you notice that we have giveaways on top of giveaways on top of giveaways over here this week? I love it. Speaking of things I love...

oh em gee my wedding photos are done!!!!
Well, they will be completely finished by the end of this week, but my AMAZING wedding photographer, Holly Lynn Photography, posted 60 highlights last night. If you ask me, that's a TON of highlights which means the pictures are so amazing she couldn't choose!!

Which lead me to being unable to choose how I want to share my pictures with you all. I think I am going to break it up into sections like, Getting Ready, Special Touches, Ceremony, Speeches, Dancing, etc. So, as I wait for all of those beauties...i thought I'd share some individual shots of Iman and I.

Seriously, get ready to swoon. She captured so much goodness!!

Indie Nook and #RedBalloonsForRyan Photo Shoot

In the above picture I am so incredibly excited, which might seem a little funny to you based on the topic at hand. But I was and am so excited for my #RedBalloonsForRyan t-shirt for several reasons!

First, it lets me honor this beautiful angel that was taken from us too soon. It lets me honor his family, and it lets me share his story when people ask. (Because really, we need more awareness and safe driving in neighborhoods.)

via

I don't believe that I can do his story justice, but this sweet boy - the son of Jacqui from Baby Boy Bakery - was playing at a family member's house when he was hit by a vehicle driving down the street. The lives of his family - and those of us who have joined together in a community of support - are forever changed. It is difficult to lose a child in this world. Please share your love with Jacqui.

Second, I am super excited because Indie Nook is super awesome! This is the first shirt I bought from them - and how I found them - and let me tell you, it is so comfortable!! I was telling Iman that every shirt I have in this color is the most comfortable shirt ever. Who know that color meant comfort?

The third reason that I am so excited is because this shirt lead to an impromptu photo shoot. You might remember that I am in love with photo shoots. They are so much fun and probably my favorite way to get silly. Even if you don't think you look good in the pictures or you feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, do it anyway! The pictures can be for your eyes only (oh gosh I have so many photo shoots like this) but it is so much fun!

Jess from Jess Loves This Life is my amazing photographer in these pictures! She has such a great camera! I can't wait to save up and get one because I miss having a camera in my life.

Here is a random picture of my shoes because let's be honest, I'm obsessed with my wife shoes and need to spot clean them!

Also, Miss Reeses was posing in her usual alien fashion and Jess got a great picture of her. She's such a crazy, sweet, friendly cat. I can't handle how much I love her.

And if you're as in love with my #RedBalloonsForRyan t-shirt as I am, Indie Nook is having a summer sale!

I'm cool enough to have been made the ad picture :)

They have a ton of other clothes as well - especially the cutest little kid clothes...can't wait for my niece to get here and spoil her!

Have a great Tuesday!
