Halloween Revelations

Did I tell you what my Halloween costume is today?

P.C. School Version

I'm WONDER WOMAN!

Which, in my eyes is very close to Warrior Queen, a costume maybe someday I will design but might be a cop out since I am a Warrior Queen everyday. My favorite thing about Wonder Woman is that she forces everyone to tell the truth.

Planet Bravo Hallo-Bowl last Saturday (so you can see the whole dress)

If I were a superhero, I would love the power to positively influence those around me. Think about it, if I had the power to persuade people to do good, that would be a superhero power indeed. I think this counts as a superpower because the power of influence can be used for bad, which is how all other superpowers are.

I was really excited to write about this superpower thing and have been pondering my superpower for weeks, but I've had a revelation.

First of all, I don't need to be a superhero to have a superpower. Second, why would I want to be a superhero?

I'd much rather be regular old me, doing what she can to change the world and influence people to do good. Wanting to fly or teleport...that all seems so superficial now. It would be fantastic, don't get me wrong. I am really trying to learn to slow my life down, and if I had that capability I think I would speed my life up.

I don't want any fighting powers or super strength because I have no desire to do any of that. Hulk Smash? I know he's a superhero but...his only triumph is in GETTING THE BAD GUYS.

I don't want to get the bad guys and hurt them. They're probably already hurt - that's why they are bad. I want to help them; show them the good in life.

I don't want to be invisible or read minds because that would both get annoying and be the opposite of helpful. Why would I want to know what everyone is thinking? I should only care about what I am thinking.

I like my free will, why would I want to take away someone else's?

On that same note, when I said influence others to do good, I mean more of showing them the good and helping them reach that path. I don't want to infringe on their free will at all, or make them regret it. I just want to be that positive influence.

I am, by the way, a wonderful influence. I hope my students see me today dressed like Wonder Woman and know that they can be Wonder Woman, too. It's as easy as being yourself.

Have you checked out the website Take Back Halloween? It is wonderful if you don't have any costume ideas and want something that is STRONG and celebrates being a woman! :)

Have a wonderful and safe night tonight guys! Get a DD because you know cops will be everywhere, and don't accept a drink unless you watched it made!!

Happy Halloween!

  7. He did! Well, he sort of did. We did the Joker makeup on his face! He spent all day at work like that, I just happened to be to tired to go out. He wanted to be a zombie but we couldn't get cool contacts for him.
