Weekly Wishes #9 + A Blog Tour

Wow! It's already another week! I hope you all had a great week! I've been working a ton - seriously so much, but that's awesome! I feel like I'm almost back to a full-time schedule. I've also been a bit of a recluse (as I mentioned yesterday). This next week is going to be the opposite of recluse life. I'm working at the restaurant at night,  have two blogger events, some more appointments for Bella, a friend coming to town and a baby shower to attend. Oh geez :)

This schedule sounds more like my usual life...

I would say I got about 50% done with my goals last week...that's okay though!

1// Pick my Wordpress Theme! Yes! I did, and I love it!

2// Clean out my car. Yeah, nope!  I was going to, but ended up having to do a million other things.

3// Write my submission for HerCampus's Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Instead of writing this, I left HerCampus, and found a better Breast Cancer Awareness opportunity! I can't wait to share it with you!

4// Begin a journal. I wrote it in one day. Obviously I still need to get to it more!

The Nectar Collective

1// Go to Yoga! I've scheduled myself for a couple of yoga dates! I had one this morning, but I didn't end up getting there, but we have the rest of the week!

2//Attend all of my social engagements. When things get rough (like they have been), I tend to blow off engagements. I'm really excited about all of these, so I can't blow them off - even if I will know no one there!

3// Keep working on WordPress! Duh :)

4// Keep reading. I finally found some time to read, and I'd love to keep that!

Last week, Nina nominated me for the Touring through Blogland! It's so cool, basically, it's a get to know you type of thing. This week I will be sharing, and then tagging 3 bloggers to share next Monday!

I will be tagging my dear friends Cassi & Katie, Paulina and Katie

1) What am I working on?
Currently, I'm working on my blog and some secret projects!! I am trying to create this into more than just a blog again and it is so inspiring! Also, working on my work - that is a lot of writing :)

2) How does my work differ from others from its genre?
I try to focus on becoming a movement more than just lifestyle blogging. I also think that my writing style is slightly different since I went to school for journalism.

3) Why do I write/create what I do?
Like most writers, I have a drive to write. The words flow from my fingertips faster than they can type sometimes!

4) How does your writing/creating process work?
I am constantly coming up with ideas, but often forget to write them. Other days, I have to write everything down super fast. I work in spurts and I can often ramble in my posts. I have been trying to be more disciplined, like I am when I write articles.

I hope you guys stop by my friends' blogs next Monday! :)

  1. you got a lot done - wordpress/blogging does take a lot of time, so i myself have to put things off to get blogging things done. but its all worth it in the end right? :)

  2. Sounds like a busy week ahead! Good luck on your wishes this week :)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yes that reminds me I need to help you install wordpress plugins. I will install some tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Picking a theme is hard work! I just finished up one blog & will start changing up the 2nd one...ugh. Seems fun at 1st though lol...good luck w/ the rest of the list. :)

  5. You left HerCampus? I feel like I haven't really been participating in it that much other than in the premier network, but even that doesn't have much engagement. Why did you end up leaving? I want to start a journal too. I haven't for so long. Are you switching over to WordPress? I've heard the benefits of it, but I kind of like where I'm at with Blogger right now, and I know a lot of really successful bloggers who have stuck with Blogger, so I'll probably just stay.

  6. Sounds pretty busy. Hope you'll make it through this week!

  7. Congratulations on leaving HerCampus and moving onward in your life :) I saw what went down on the page a couple days ago and I was surprised at how everything was handled. I really hope that everything worked out the best for you, because that's all that matters!! So glad I can now just keep up with you on your blog instead!

  8. Hooray for being intentional about your site and learning as you go! I'm also excited to hear about the new opportunity!

  9. Great list this week! I've been working on reading more, too. I've had a lot more time to read lately, and it's been so nice!

  10. I would have missed out on cleaning my car haha. I always say i'm going to do it and don't.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I've been meaning to clean out my car too - I pull into the drive way with a buttload of groceries meaning to go back down and vacuum it (I never have garbage in it because I HATE it) but it's so dusty and my carpets need to be cleaned).

    P.s. I love yoga.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Good luck on your new goals! I never have time to clean out my car either. :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. Great way to keep yourself accountable! I have a really long to do list that I need to get control of!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Grr, I commented before and now it isn't showing up! Hope I am not spamming your page here lol.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love yoga, I go 3 times a week! I can't wait to hear about your new Breast Cancer Awareness opportunity! I really want to learn more about WordPress but for now I'll stick with Blogger! It's been good to me so far <3

  16. I love love love yoga! It's so calming! Good luck with your goals!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Writing in that journal is a good start! All the best for this week!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Read girl, read!! I recommend Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher! <3

    ReplyDelete
  19. 50% is a great start! :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. 50% is awesome! And wow that is a lot to do throughout the week. I've been wanting to attend a blogger event forever but there are never any around where I live. I hope you make it to all of your social events!

And that's pretty cool you studied journalism! I'm currently in school for journalism and it's a lot of fun.

  21. I am a list queen! I love seeing everyone else's. But mine is more a general suggestion than a plan...

  22. I've been really slacking with my yoga recently. I need to improve that too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for the reminder that I should probably clean out my car. I'm not sure why getting in the car every day doesn't remind me though. Weird how that works ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've been trying to write in my journal more often, I think it will help in my writing on my blog. Thank you for the reminder!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I so want to get back to my yoga days really miss it

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have been wanting to try out yoga. I have heard a lot of great things about the benefits of it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I need to clean out my car too... and my closet, and a million other things! Hopefully I will get to at least one this week. And I totally know what you mean about blowing off social engagements when you feel overwhelmed. It can be hard to do it all!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Grats on doing so much! I'm like you, I blow things off when I get busy, usually things that would really help me decompress. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hear ya on blowing off the engagements thing. That's something I need to work on myself. I have 4 active kids, I work outside my home, and run my site on top of cleaning house and all those other daily things moms do. It's easy for me to say "I have too much to do" and then just blow off whatever I was thinking about doing

    ReplyDelete
  30. Congratulations on making half of your goals :) It's an improvement. I also got a lot of blogging done and I'm really happy about that!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nicely done at achieving some of your goals! It is great that you make weekly lists like this. Maybe that would actually help me achieve mine. Keep them realistic at one week at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I always love these lists! OMG the whole blowing off social stuff... ehum... blogging has really helped me get out of that habit a bit hehe! Great job meeting some of your goals darling!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the weekly goals! I need to start doing something like this, especially since I love to do lists and am good at doing at least half of what I write down! And I totally get the blowing social stuff off...but since graduation I feel like there's at least 2 or 3 things going on a week...yay us

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love these kind of lists. I think I may switch over to wordpress soon. I've been thinking about it for a while now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Really like the theme. I am going to REALLY need to start my list.

  36. haha, exactly! I do hate the constant feeling of being behind though!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thank you! I need to work a little harder this week!

    ReplyDelete
  38. hahah, yikes! 2 blogs? Are both of them yours?? Thank you! Good luck with your blog design!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I did! I realized I have outgrown it (age-wise, not blog-size-wise) I am so excited for my other write up!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I did! I feel like I have outgrown the HerCampus crowd age-wise. I haven't been participating that much, nor am I in the premier network!

I am switching to WordPress and loving it. I don't like that Google owns your content with Blogger (because it is hosting you) and have been meaning to move to self-hosting for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope that everything works out for everyone involved! I realized that I might be in a different life stage than most of the others and didn't really feel a fit anymore. I'm so happy to keep up with all of my blog friends in other platforms though - like through your blog!! <3

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's coming soon - the second week in October!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. That is so wonderful! I snuck away once to read this week - I suppose I should just keep my book in my bag!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh my gosh, me too!!! I was totally embarrassed today when I gave a friend a ride by the complete mess that is my car!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I NEED to get my car professionally cleaned and then maybe I will keep it clean? I don't even know how it went from brand new clean to filthy - I tried so hard!

p.s. Yoga is the best but I keep bailing because I sleep in :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. Exactly!! Some people are all words, and others are all images. I swear sometimes I dream in words! I'm so happy to have found you!! Do you have a blog? What is yours??

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you! Cleaning out the car is the worst!! I often wish I had a car that is so clean it seems brand new, but I just suck at it

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thank you!! Good luck!! Mine seems to be getting endless, as well

    ReplyDelete
  49. Aw man, this is the only one I got!! I'm sorry, Disqus has been having issues - but I will be switching to Wordpress soon!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ahh, I'm so jealous of your 3 times a week - I really need to get more diligent! I am learning WP right now and it is so fun (but a little overwhelming)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you so much!! I love the calming nature :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ooh thanks! I'm adding it to my list!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Journalism was so fun! I want to start my own magazine/movement some day :) I definitely am "less productive" this week. I might make a list of things I did instead of my to do list! Ah, a lot of bloggers in my area have started organizing events and it is so nice, originally I felt the same way.

    ReplyDelete
  54. hahaha, I like that it is a general suggestion! I should try to view mine as such :) Lists are the best!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. hahaha, ditto! It's like every once in awhile I look around and say "Man I need to clean this" and then when I leave the car, the thought is gone from my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree! Yet I still keep putting it off =/

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes! We should all make a conscious effort!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I am such a multitasker myself! I always feel like I SHOULD be doing more than I am, and that's why I don't have time to read. I always feel behind

    ReplyDelete
  59. It is so awesome! There are so many benefits to it, especially the feelings of relaxation and productivity after a class!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I already failed and blew off a social engagement. It ended up that I was stuck in traffic, but still. Cleaning things out is the worst. I was sooo good at cleaning things out in May and June, and now I just have too much going on I feel like!

    ReplyDelete
  61. It is so easy to blow them off, but they are so important! I need to come up with a mantra to remind myself!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ahh, I can't even imagine when I get to that lifestage!! FOUR KIDS! That seems like you have a crazy busy day

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes! I definitely try to have these goals as guidelines for myself! It gives me something to strive for, but also leeway if I don't complete them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would definitely wash my car, but I pledged a no wash for 90 days because of the drought in So Cal!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yes! it is definitely fun to design it herself!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yes! Join in - Melyssa from the Nectar Collective hosts it every week!! I totally failed and blew off some social engagements. Sometimes life is just too much!! It never seemed that way in college though

    ReplyDelete
  67. hahaha, I've been working on it! For some reason, it's harder for me to go to events that have to do with networking or journalism, but if it has to do with something that has a task - like a networking / charity combo it's easy
