Weekly Warrior Queen Links #7

Over the years, Barbie has always been controversial for her looks - but her career path has always been on point (I never thought I needed to look like my Barbie like some people say). Finally, there is Entrepreneur Barbie - along with an Entrepreneur program for young girls! STOKED.

This Warrior Queen (literally, she is nicknamed that by her friends, like I am), is fighting like a girl!

I'm loving this 13 year old girl who pitched the first shut out game in Little League World Series history.

Every girl should feel comfortable about all parts of her body. Note: NSFW.

Calling Miley Cyrus a slut is wrong on so many levels, especially the one that allows women to have sexuality.

Well, that's all I've got for you today! I've been trying to get all prepped for back to school next week (and write all my blog posts) Wish me luck!!

  2. Love it! Barbie has been so many types while I was growing up. I like to think all her different career paths make her an automatic entrepreneur! :)

  3. Awesome links! I love the Miley Cyrus one. Calling each other sluts brings all women down.

  4. The Miley Cyrus one is interesting. It's amazing how controversial she is, and what people say about her is also controversial.

  7. that's pretty cool! i used to looove my barbies growing up. i feel like barbie has definitely branched out to have different careers since then. i have a couple friends that know miley and even though she has a pretty different public image now.. they always tell me she's a good girl and doesn't do drugs like a lot of other celebs etc. i feel like you never really know what's told to them to do by their publicists and what is really them either.

  14. I agree! I try my hardest not to say derogatory words toward women.

  15. It is amazing! I definitely have my share of thoughts on Miley Cyrus, but I try to keep them as open as possible. Controversy can often be good.

  16. I agree, especially because I believe there is no true definition of "slut" but that it is meant to be derogatory only.

  17. You're welcome! I hope you enjoy them.

  18. I was so excited to find the information on it, too!!

  19. I agree, Barbie has changed so much, and I definitely think for the better! I am glad that your friends have said that about Miley. I think with all celebrities, we are given many images - those created for them, those that are blown up and glimpses into the real them. I think that is why it is so important to refrain from judging celebrities and using them as role models. I think the same goes for politicians and members of the public eye.

  20. Yes!! I know, that is so awesome!!!

  21. Thank you so much! I agree that they are so interesting!

  22. I definitely agree!!! There is always room for change (maybe a little less blonde as well? Barbie dyes her hair seems reasonable in this world!)

  23. I absolutely HATE ALL THINGS MILEY, I can't even bring myself to read the article about her.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I know!! She has taught girls they can have so many different career paths!!

  25. It is more about calling anyone a slut, versus Miley in particular

  26. I had to share the Warrior Queen on my page. What an amazing woman! And I agree, Barbie entrepreneur is a great toy for girls, especially with the program. I'm a bit mixed about Miley. I agree, we should call women sluts. But I have to call her public performances immoral and even pornographic. She's a smart business woman finding her way. But I hate that women need to sell their bodies (even if it's just in pictures) to get ahead in their carreers.

  27. LOVE this post. All of the links are so good! That Laci Green one was /great/. Friends keep telling me I'd love her and her honesty, etc... but I have never gotten around to watching her. Go her for trying to inspire healthy self-image!

Way to go Entrepreneur Barbie! I hope this is the start of a further, wide-reaching concept. Plus, that program... yes! Just, so much yes!

  33. Great links, I especially agree with the one about Miley. I am 100% against slut shaming!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That makes me happy! We really should embrace everyone, regardless of their sexual exploits. Those should be private, not public knowledge

  35. I always love your link posts, always something interesting to read. The Miley post is great, I never understanding why people find it ok to call women sluts :-)
